Cow Hollow Hotel – the only boutique hotel you need to visit in Manchester
It’s been a while since I visited Manchester, the city in which I spent my last year in England. The last time I went back, I was there for a long weekend and stayed at the Cow Hollow – a textile warehouse turned boutique hotel that is both chic and edgy. Located conveniently in the city centre, this stylish home away from home is a quick walk from Piccadilly station, sitting nicely opposite the cool Ezra & Gil cafe in the Northern Quarter.
As soon as I stepped through the entrance, I was grated with a warm welcome and after a quick check-in (where I was asked to put down a deposit, fill in a card for each visitor to indicate our breakfast preference etc), I was brought to my room on the first floor.
Instead of a room card, we got given a key, which came in a cute ziplock pocket with sweets and gummies. The room was spacious yet cosy, with a high ceiling and a comfortably sized bathroom. A huge king size bed sits nicely in the middle of the room, facing a sleek flat screen TV with Netflix access and a portable speaker! Hiding behind the big white doors in front of the bed was a polished bathroom, with an overhead shower on the right and the toilet on the left. They also have toiletries from REN Skincare, one of my favourites. Oh, and there’s a bagful of hairstyling tools, including hair dryer, straightener and curler! How thoughtful is that?!
I made my booking directly through the hotel's website - which gives me priority over those that were booked through third-party websites. I also got to check in early (at noon) for no extra cost, in order to decorate the room nicely before the big surprise. As for the birthday cake, I got a chocolate cronut from Fress Cafe, not far from the hotel, and the front desk helped me keep it until the next morning when they delivered it to our room alongside our breakfast, with one of those firework candles.
The room starts at £99 per night, which is way cheaper compared to the big commercial hotels in the area. While the price may still be quite steep for some, rest assured that you’ll definitely get all your money’s worth. So, here’s what they offer: besides the luxurious room, every evening, there’s a complimentary glass of prosecco and nibbles at the bar, 24/7 access to self-service hot drinks, which you can self-service or order from your room and have it brought to you whenever! At night, you can also request for cookies and milk to be delivered to the room to enjoy while you Netflix and chill. The best bit has definitely got to be the gourmet breakfast bag you wake up to the next morning, delivered to the room at your chosen time – proper breakfast in bed. I literally cannot think of a better way to start the day!
